6th July. The seminar brought together three leaders on Education. Dr. Arnetha Ball (Stanford University), Dr. Lorri Santamaria (University of Auckland) and Dr. Cristina Santamaria (University of Indianapolis) shared with students and voluntaries from La Verneda Adults’ school their vision on the future of education.




During June and as part of the 15th anniversary celebration of the NIASE (UFSCar), in partnership with the Graduate Program in Science and Mathematics Education (PPGEdCM / UFSCar), Dr. Aitor Gómez, Dr. Rosa Valls and Dr. Iñaki Santa Cruz were involved in different seminars such as “Dialogue Feminism , New Masculinities and Preventive Socialization of Gender Violence in Universities”, pointing out their research results and findings. Saleacom researchers also visited schools as Learning Communities.

27thof July. during the celebration of the 1st Conference on Social Impact of Science, Jo Lampert, co-director of the National Exceptional Teachers for Disadvantaged Schools program at Queensland University of Technology and Arnetha Ball, Co-Director of the Center for the study of Race, Ethnicity and Language (CREAL), Stanford Graduate School of Education, presented a session on societal challenges regarding Education for All. SEMINAR Teachers that change the world. Experiences from three continents. University of Barcelona (Spain)

19thof July. The seminar brings together three leaders in teacher training for the transformation of social inequalities in different continents: United States of America, Australia, and Brazil. They will discuss the role of teachers and their training to work with excellence in vulnerable contexts. Two of the interventions will be in English with consecutive translation.

Seminar Exceptional Teaching for Disadvantaged Schools. University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain)

On 12thof July, Jo Lampert from Queensland University of Technology, Australia, as a partner of SALEACOM, presented NETDS, the Australian National Exceptional Teaching for Disadvantaged Schools program, focusing of its overview, impact and on-going Complexities at Deusto University, Bilbao(Spain).

On 1st of July 2016, Dr. Aitor Gómez (University Rovira i Virgili) and Vladia Ionescu, PhD Candidate (University Rovira i Virgili) presented SALEACOM project in the 5th Multidisciplinary International Conference on Educational Research celebrated in Seville (Spain) as Evidence-based Education Policy. The communication focused on the objectives, methodology, preliminary results and the conclusion withdrawn after the first year of implementation of the project.


World Education Research Association (WERA) Symposium: Overcoming inequalities of systematically underserved communities from a global research network: teachers and minority women as agents of change. (Washington DC, United States of America)

On 12th of April 2016, partners from SALEACOM have participated in WERA meeting, symposium which was celebrated during AERA Annual Meeting, in Washington DC, sharing a discussion space regarding how to overcome inequalities of systematically underserved communities from a global research network. This time, they pointed out the paper women play in this context.

Jo Lampert, from Queensland University of Technology, presented “Gender conceptions of Quality teaching in low-socioeconomic-status schools in Australia: Mavericks and Dragon Ladies”, Arnetha Ball from Stanford University, explained the “International perspectives on teacher as agents of change: addressing the challenges of diversity in teacher professional development in transnational contexts” and Sharona Jayavant from University of Auckland, described the “Applied critical leadership in women leaders lifting Maori education in Aoetearoa New Zealand”. Rocío Garcia Carrión, who shared with Ms. Jayavant another WERA meeting at University of Deusto (Bilbao, Spain), talked about the “Intergenerational Solidarity Networks: the case of Roma women’s movement in Spain”.


Seminar Innovative Methodologies, Social Impact and Transformation. University Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona, Spain)

On 25th of November 2015, Dr. Julia Szalai from the Central European University and Dr. Aitor Gómez, main researcher of Saleacom Project and professor from the University Rovira i Virgili, held a seminar focused on research methodologies implemented with the aim of overcoming the Roma population’s exclusion in Europe. Professors from different scientific disciplines and undergraduate student attended the seminar.

Saleacom participates in the WERA IRN Symposium. University of Deusto, (Bilbao, Spain).

On 19th of November 2015, the Faculty of Psychology and Education of the University of Deusto organised the World Educational Research Association IRN Symposium in order to present new possibilities for capacity building for educational researchers in the Basque Country (Spain). In this event, which brought the attention of researchers, public and private research entities and others, the Saleacom Project was presented.

Roundtable Culturally Responsive Research Methodology: a New Zealand Case and Study Ethnic differences in education and diverging prospects for Roma youth in Hungary. University of Barcelona (Barcelona, Spain).

On 2nd of November 2015, Saleacom organised a roundtable addressed to PhD candidates and junior researchers with the aim of sharing interdisciplinary and international lines of research in the field of educational inequalities suffered by traditionally excluded groups. Members from Saleacom Project, as Sharona Jayavant from the University of Auckland (New Zealand) and Agnes Kende from the Central European University (Hungary) were invited to share their works with the audience, which are focused on educational interventions and policies with Maori in New Zealand and Roma in Hungary.
